About Joanne

In 1982, I made my first quilt for our son, Chris. After making that first quilt I knew I had found my passion. I love to sew and am delighted to share this joy with others.

I have lived in many different parts of the United States and Canada and find that quilters are among the best people. My quilting has opened doors and helped me make friends in each place that I have lived. Each place has also offered unique opportunities for me to develop my art, and to learn and share many different techniques. One of my special memories is having one of my original quilts displayed in the American Quilter’s Society Engagement Calendar in 1994. I have also had my work used in quilt instruction books. I have displayed my quilts with great success in Quilt Shows throughout the United States, including the Marin County Quilt Show in California and the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum here in Colorado.

I enjoy making all kinds of different quilts including pieced, appliqué, and water color. I am fascinated by color and am always amazed by its ability to enhance and change any design. Many of my original designs reflect that. Landscape quilts are my absolute passion. Over the years I have tried every technique that has been presented. I wish I could paint but find ‘painting with fabric’ is equally as satisfying.

Another of my favorite quilts to make is the ½ Log Cabin. I have made more than 100 ½ Log Cabin quilts for family, friends, ‘get well’ gifts and raffles. I frequently use floral fabrics in these quilts because I so enjoy flowers.
